About me

About me

My name is Patrick Rottländer, I am a Web Developer, Tech Blogger and IT Security Expert and I am working in the financial industry since 2001. I studied economics at the University of Heidelberg from 1989 to 1995 with a focus on economic theory. During my studies I already had a lot to do with IT and started programming in C, C ++, Turbo Pascal. It was therefore clear to me after my studies that I would start my professional career in IT.

In the years after my studies I grew up in the emerging internet and into programming websites. With the emergence of business models based on web-based applications security topics become more important and I concentrate more on application and network security as well as on Identity and Access Management.

As a web developer, I focus heavily on developing web applications based on Javascript, Node.js and Express.js. I am learning how cloud solutions work and how to develop applications for the web with modern tools and programming languages. I document everything I learn here on this blog and also write on other platforms such as Medium about technical topics that concern me. I do this for myself to be able to read things but also to share my knowledge and solutions with other developers.

You can find a lot here on Digitaldocblog somewhere on the Internet on other blogs but mostly in a different compilation. I also learn from the many developers who make their solutions public and document them on blogs, but usually I put the content together differently for my purposes.

Making knowledge available to others via the Internet and sharing it with the world is one of the most domocratic processes. It is very important to me to make my own contribution to the democratization of knowledge.
